During the XIV meeting the CITEL Permanent Executive Committee was
approved the preliminary program of courses for 2005.
This preliminary program, prepared taking into account the requests
from Member States and in coordination with the ITU Center of
Excellence for the Americas, includes distance learning courses using
the ITU platform, on up-to-date issues such as: Negotiation
Strategies, IP Telephony, Project management, Security of Information
networks, Fixed Wireless Communications, WI-FI Networks, New
Generation Public convergent Networks, Satellite Communications,
Service development for mobile technology, Cable TV networks and
Submarine Fiber Optic Networks .
Also, we have support for Courses or Workshops on: implementation of
Mutual Recognition Agreements for telecommunication equipments (MRA)
and promotion of trade, Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH),
Competition policy for the Americas and regulatory and privatization
issues in telecommunications, Wireless Rural Telecommunications System
Planning including infrastructure Development and ICT programs for
developing regions and LDCs and New Technologies in Broadcasting.
Please be aware that for the first time we also include the support to
a Post grade in Telecommunication Technologies. Its objective is to
train professionals so as to transform
telecommunication technologies in competitive advantages. The
program's goal is to develop in the students the ability to generate
and implement innovative technology strategies in companies; to link
technology with strategic vision; to understand and widen the new ways
of doing business with the present technologies; to take advantage of
technological initiatives and to lead and work efficiently in teams
with the skill to make decisions in situations of uncertainty.
The Coordination for Human Resources Development is
now finalizing the coordination of the definitive program subject to
funds availability in the OAS budget program.
