Eradicate HIV-related discrimination in the Americas
[December 17th 2012]
On World AIDS Day 2012, CIM, the IACHR, UNAIDS and PAHO issued a call to OAS Member States to eradicate stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV in the Americas.

Meet the CIM President
Maureen Clarke Clarke

CIM President 2013-2015
With a long trajectory and experience in public management at the national level, Ms. Clarke holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Costa Rica, and master’s in public administration from the Central American Institute of Public Administration (ICCAP). She has also studied management and public administration at the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE).
Ms. Clarke currently serves as the Minister for the Status of Women and as Executive President of the National Institute of Women (INAMU) of Costa Rica (2011-2014), from where she is responsible for the implementation of the National Policy on Gender Equality and Equity (PIEG) 2007-2017 and its Action Plan 2008-2012
Established in 1928, the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) was the first inter-governmental agency stablished to ensure recognition of human rights of women. CIM is made up of 34 Principal Delegates, one for each member state, and has become the principal forum for debating and formulating policy on women's rights in the Americas and gender equality.
