Meetings of Ministers and High Authorities of Education

Education

The Ministers of Education meet periodically to discuss education in the political agenda, exchange experiences, and review the progress of the mandates from the Summits of the Americas. The Ministers develop lines of action to respond to the Summit mandates. In addition to Ministerial meetings, the Inter-American Committee on Education meets to follow-up on the implementation of the lines of action established by the Ministers.

Topics of Ministerial meetings include: the state of education in the Hemisphere; education for a democratic citizenry; early childhood education; teacher training and education; and, the role of education in socio-cultural, political and economic development.

The Technical Secretariat that supports both the Meetings of Ministers of Education and the Inter-American Committee on Education is the Department of Human Development and Education.
