Executive Secretary for Integral Development

Sherry Tross currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development at the Organization of American States, and leads a team of dedicated professionals in the elaboration and implementation of sustainable economic, human and social development programs that support the development priorities of the Organization’s member states. Ms. Tross directed the Summits of the Americas Secretariat from 2010-2012 and was instrumental in the planning and execution of the Sixth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Americas, the coordination of technical support of twelve international financial institutions and regional organizations that comprise the Joint Summit Working Group (JSWG), and the facilitation of government-civil society dialogue in the Summit process. From 2006-2010, Ms. Tross was Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS. In that capacity, she managed the Secretariat to the General Assembly, Meetings of Consultation, Permanent Council and Subsidiary Organs, and directed the work of the technical teams supporting the Organization’s political bodies. Prior to that appointment, she was political advisor and principal speechwriter for the OAS Assistant Secretary General. From 2003-2005, she served as Director of Business Development at the World Trade Center Miami and worked in close partnership with private companies, state and county agencies, and port authorities to generate trade and business opportunities. Previously, she served as Program Director at the Dante B. Fascell North-South Center and was also editor of the North-South Update policy brief series that addressed trade, security and governance issues in the Americas. She was a founding Research Fellow for the University of Miami’s Caribbean Program from 1992-1994. Ms. Tross has provided consulting services for government agencies and private companies. She has been a speaker, commentator and rapporteur at public fora on a range of development and security topics.
