Executive Secretary
Summits of the Americas Secretariat
Sherry Tross was appointed Executive Secretary of the Summits of the Americas Secretariat in December 2010. In that capacity, she manages the secretariat that provides advisory, technical, and administrative support to the Summits process and the triennial meeting of the heads of state and government of the Western Hemisphere.
From 2006-2010, she served as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States. Prior to that appointment, she served as political advisor and principal speechwriter for the OAS Assistant Secretary General.
From 2003-2005, she was Director of Business Development at the World Trade Center Miami. Ms. Tross served as Program Director at the Dante B. Fascell North-South Center, a research and educational institution dedicated to policy dialogue and analysis of social, political, economic and security issues affecting the Americas. She was a Research Fellow for the University of Miami’s Caribbean Program from 1992-1994. She has provided consulting services for government agencies and private companies.
Ms. Tross has been a speaker, commentator and rapporteur at public fora on a range of topics on the inter-American agenda.
She holds a B.A. in Spanish from Hamilton College and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Miami.
