The violence committed by minors and young adults has
become one of the biggest challenges to public security in the Americas
today. It is therefore necessary to implement public policies that
take into consideration the specific characteristics and needs of this part
of the population.
Against this background, the DPS
has led investigations in order to understand and evaluate the extent of
this
problem. These seek to foment model public policies, model
legislation, prevention strategies, the identification of best practices at
the regional level, systems of information and indicators, and strategies of
rehabilitation and social reinsertion.
