public security in the Americas.
International Centre for Criminal Law Reform
and Criminal Justice Policy
It provides technical assistance in the implementation of public
policies and the development of criminal justice, through analysis and
investigations. This initiative has been promoted by the
University of British Columbia and the Simon Fraser University in
Vancouver, Canada. The center works in accordance with the
priorities defined by the United Nations in the area of criminal law and
criminal justice.
King’s
College International Center for Prison Studies
It provides assistance to governments and other agencies with the
objective to develop adequate prison and penitentiary policies. It
publishes statistical information on prison throughout the world (World
Prision Brief). This institution is associated to the King's
College University, in the United Kingdom.
American UniversityMinorities at Risk Project Investigation Project led by
American University that analyzes
the conflicts between community groups involved in politics. The
available materials come from more than 283 groups and target
researchers, governmental officials, journalists and students.

This
Blog shares information on journals from all countries in the region, as
well as links to official documents and reports by specialists.
For the most part, the documents are in Spanish, but there is also some
information in English and in Portuguese.
FLACSO Chile –
Program on Security and Citizenship (Programa de Seguridad y Ciudadanía)
This Program aims to leading national and comparative investigations in
the Latin American context, dealing with issues related to crime and
violence; to developing teaching and training processes in public
security; to advising public institutions in the design, monitoring and
systematization of policies, programs, plans and initiatives on security.
It publishes
national reports on public security in 20 countries in the region.
Mexico -
Instituto de
Seguridad Ciudadana (AC-Insyde) Autonomous and pluri-disciplinary
organization that seeks to create the conditions for the development
of ideas on public security and the police, criminal justice, human
rights and the media. It focuses on police reform as well as
on the need to promote the education of journalists, media and
institutional communicators involved in the diffusion of news on
public security and criminal justice.
