The First Meeting of Ministers
Responsible for Public Security took place in Mexico City,
Mexico on October 7-8, 2008 and concluded with the adoption of
the
Commitment to Public Security in the Americas, document that
sets the five pillars to support the design and implementation
of a comprehensive response to the public security challenges,
within a democratic framework:
- Public security management
- Prevention of crime,
violence and insecurity
- Police management
- Citizen and community
participation
- International community
