SMS discusses Organized Crime at the World Economic Forum's Summit
ADAM BLACKWELL, the OAS Secretary of Multidimensional Security joined a selected group of high-level public figures in human security at the World Economic Forum's Summit on the Global Agenda 2012 held in Dubai on November 12-14. The OAS representative participated in a brain-storming session on Public Security issues in Latin America and was a special guest at a session on Criminal Networks, chaired by the Minister of Public Safety of Canada, Vic Toews, and the Minister of Defense of Peru, Pedro Cateriano. “Public safety policies in the Americas remains mostly ad hoc and requires a rethinking of its related risks”, said Mr. Blackwell. In 2013, the summit will organize the World Economic Forum on Latin America, a regional gathering in Lima, Peru.

OAS Train Country Officials in Cyber Security Techniques
THE MANAGEMENT OF CYBER SECURITY and Network Intrusion Incidents course trained officials coming from the Computer Security Incident Response Team of Paraguay, as well as officials from Uruguay and Panama. The five day course, held in Asuncion, was opened by the President of Paraguay Federico Franco; and attended by the Attorney General, Javier Díaz Verón, the Interior Minister Carmelo Caballero, and Neil Klopfenstein, the Executive Secretary of the OAS Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), responsible for the organization of the event.

OAS Mechanism Presented at International Anti-Corruption Conference in Brazil
THE OAS ANTICORRUPTION Mechanism (MESICIC) and its contribution for the development and implementation of national anticorruption policies were debated during the 15th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), considered to be the most important meeting in the world related to the fight against corruption. The Conference was held in Brasilia, November 7 to 10, 2012.
