Meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee for SAICM implementation

During the SAICM Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean held in Panama City on February, 2008, the SAICM National Focal Points decided to create a Coordination Regional Committee to support the work of the Strategic Approach of the Regional Focal Point and the government regional representatives to the QSP Executive Board. The Department of Sustainable Development of the OAS, under the OAS/CIDA project “Supporting trade-related Capacity Building in Environmental Management”, is organizing a kick-off meeting of the SAICM Coordination Regional Committee, which will be held on June 11th – 13th in Trinidad and Tobago. This is a closed meeting of members of the Committee, in preparation of the next Open-ended Meeting of the Legal and Technical Working Group of SAICM (22 – 24 October, 2008) and the next International Conference on Chemicals Management (11 – 15 May, 2009).

Activities, initiatives and approaches to set the base towards a Regional Plan of Action, will be also discussed.
