The strategic objectives of the INDM are as follows:

•    To support the development of the National Platforms of the Hyogo Framework for Action, within a Regional perspective;

•    To facilitate the exchange of information, knowledge and experience –lessons learned and good practices, among the OAS participating Member States;

•     To support the monitoring and revision of the Inter-American Strategic Plan for Policy on Vulnerability Reduction, Risk Management and Disaster Response –IASP , as to ensure that the progress and lessons learned from the various national and regional strategies are being taking into consideration; and

•    To support the coordination of a regional agenda for the implementation of the IASP and the decisions of the IACNDR.
