Summary: |
Ecuadorian cloud forests are located along the Andean slopes, on areas
covered permanently by clouds and mist, from 1800 to 4000 m. Despite
their limited extent, these forests have a very high species diversity,
some species are endemic to these formations, however, these are forests
under a strong anthropogenic pressure. Hence cloud forests are
catalogued as priority areas for conservation. Thus it is necessary to
deepen our knowledge about these forests, the digitalization of the
collections from cloud forests held at the QCA Herbarium will provide
with more complete data in order to strengthen our knowledge about them,
and so, reinforce decision-making concerning cloud forest conservation. |
