1. Thematic Network: Pollinators

2. Summary: The collection of the Jesuit Francisco Piñas, presently housed in the Museo Biblioteca Ecuatoriana Aurelio Espinosa Polit, is the most important Lepidoptera collection of Ecuador. The collection has approximately 150,000 specimens, which includes families of Rhopalocera and Heterocera. Data from the collection are reliable and many of the records have geographic coordinates. The specimens will also be photographed and their image will be part of the database. The confirmation of the identity of the specimens will be done with the collaboration of the McGuire Center taxonomists.
