Summary |
This Project looks
forward to obtain, analyze and incorporate to a geographic information
system data acquired since 1980 until this year, by the Limnology
Laboratory of the University of Chile in the northern zone of the
Country (17° to 22° South Latitude). Besides, we propose a field trip to
gather information in zones not covered by previous trips, or sites
which present shortfall information. The methodology will consider to
gather along the official information generated by the Geographic
Military Institute (Instituto Geográfico Militar – IGM) with the layer
made by HydroSHEDS project, developing and adding metadata to HydroSHEDS
layer. We will consider arheic, endorheic and exhoreic hydrographic
systems, differenciating stream courses, lothic environments and salars.
We will obtain in this way, a layer based in HydroSHEDS project with
basic attributes derived from the freshwater systems mapping required by
The Nature Conservancy. Considering the diversity of information
gathered by the Limnology Laboratory and several Chilean Public Agencies
in last decades, it remains open the possibility for future proposals
for the digitalization of more detailed information of physical,
chemical and biological type. |
