The Entomological
Museum of the Embrapa Eastern Amazon (former CPATU) represents a
strategic importance for studies of insect-plant interactions at the
Brazilian Amazon, considering the reduced number of research
institutions in relation to the megabiodiversity of the Amazon
ecosystem. Initiatives looking for the development of technologies to
support food security, as well as the assessment of the ecosystem
services carried out by pollinator agents should be encouraged.
Therefore, this project aims to build a 4.000 specimens quick and safe
data basis through the digitalization of the insect visitors’ and
pollinators’ specimens of the CPATU Entomological Museum, as well as the
plants they use as food resources, and virtually display this
information to the public in general through the Embrapa and IABIN
website. |
