1. Summary: |
The present project asks
for collaboration from IABIN to advance with the mapping of freshwater
ecosystems of Argentina (wetlands, temporary and permanent water lagoons and
rivers, among others). A series of attributes for these ecosystems will be
derived and incorporated into the standard format of continental water
ecosystems of IABIN. The degree of adjustment of the existing global and
national classifications of freshwater ecosystems will be analyzed, making
emphasis in arid and semi-arid regions of the country (that totalize a 70%
of its surface). In addition, we will make compatible the resulting
information with the standards and protocols of IABIN and train personnel
for it. The information will be of public access - via Internet - through
the website of the ETN and also of the Óga Foundation, supporting in this
way the IABIN philosophy. |
