National Focal Points’ Meeting

Inter-American Forum on Environmental Law (FIDA)

Brasilia, May 8-9, 2008

The National Focal Points’ meeting was held pursuant to a resolution of the Inter-American Commission on Sustainable Development CIDS/CIDI/RES.3 (III-0/02); the mandates issued by OAS Member States in the Inter-American Program for Sustainable Development (PIDS 2006-2009), and the Declaration of the First Inter-American Meeting of Ministers and High Level Authorities on Sustainable Development (Santa Cruz 2006).

The objective of this meeting reviewed the progress on the FIDA work plan, and identify priorities and a common work program based on the consensus of the national representatives for the next 4 years.

The meeting agenda  was based on consultations with the OAS-DSD Environmental Law Advisory Group, and identified existing and possible areas of work that are open to recommendations from the National Focal Points. Background Note.
