Second International Workshop of the Sub-Network Amazon Protected Areas Information

Date: July 10 – 16, 2006
Place: Leticia, National Natural Park Amacayacú (Colombia)

The DSD, within the framework of the Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network, will hold the Second International Workshop of the Sub-Network Amazon Protected Areas Information. The workshop objectives are:

  • To continue strengthening the Amazon Protected Areas Information System and Database (AAPAD, by its Spanish acronym) with Amazon protected areas indicators;

  • To provide training on decision-making information systems in the region;

  • To formalize the implementation of a Sub-Network Amazon Protected Areas within the Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network;

  • To provide a forum where technicians and collaborators may define priorities, needs and recommendations for action in the region of the Amazon Basin; and

  • Materialize projects in transboundary sub-regions which allow the implementation of interactive information tools, so that they may become pilot projects of the potential for regional integration and cooperation.
