21 May - Georgetown, Guyana: During a two-day working visit to Guyana, OAS Assistant Secretary General, Ambassador Albert Ramdin held talks with Guyana’s President, the honorable Bharrat Jagdeo. Ambassador Ramdin briefed the President on OAS plans for follow-up to the V Summit of the Americas and the upcoming 39th General Assembly. President Jagdeo discussed plans for his chairmanship of the CARICOM Community Heads of Government during the period July to December 2009 and invited the Assistant Secretary general to work with him in the coming months to explore how Guyana and the OAS could improve collaboration and ensure current OAS mechanisms and programs are optimized to meet the urgent development needs of the people of Guyana.
