Activities undertaken

Inter-American Forum of Afro-descendants, Dominican Republic, 2009

The Inter-American Forum of Afro-descendants was held in the Dominican Republic, on January 15 and 16, 2009. At the event, in addition to facilitating the participation of Afro-descendant representatives, having made initial efforts to create a regional network, the Department of International Law gave a presentation on the status of the Draft Inter-American Convention against Racism and All Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance. In addition, the document on regional standards of protection was unveiled for the first time and had a significant influence on the text of the final declaration of the forum prepared by the participants. A report on the above Forum was published in OAS Newsletter No. 6.
