Course on International Refugee Law (CAJP, 2011)


On October 20, 2011, a Course on International Refugee Law will take place at the OAS headquarters (1889 F St. NW, Washington, D.C., Padilha Vidal room), pursuant to a mandate contained in General Assembly resolution (XLI-O/11), "Protection of Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the Americas", which instructed the Permanent Council to organize the course through the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs and with support from the Department of International Law of the General Secretariat and the technical and financial collaboration of the UNHCR.

COURSE DETAILS

Languages. The course will be held in English and Spanish, with available simultaneous interpretation in all four official languages of the Organization.

Participation. The course is open for staff of the permanent missions of the member states, staff of the General Secretariat of the OAS, as well as for other interested persons.

Registration. Spaces for this course are limited.  Those interested in participating in the course must complete the online registration form:

OAS webcast. The course will also be transmitted live through the OAS webcast site: http://www.oas.org/en/media_center/webcast.asp. Those who will be following the course via webcast do not need to register for the course.

Certificates of attendance. Certificates of attendance to the course will be awarded only to registered participants that attend all the classes of the course.  Participants will be required to sign an attendance form.  Certificates will be sent by mail after the course is over.  It is important that each participant provides his address or office number (OAS Staff) on the registration form. Those following the course via webcast will not be entitled to receive a certificate.
