CONVOCATION OF THE FIFTH MEETING OF THE REMJA WORKING GROUP ON MUTUAL
ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS AND EXTRADITION, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION
AG/RES. 2657 (XLI-O/11) AND THE CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE
EIGHTH MEETING OF MINISTERS OF JUSTICE OR OTHER MINISTERS OR ATTORNEYS
GENERAL OF THE AMERICAS (REMJA-VIII)
(Adopted at its session held on December 9, 2011)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
CONSIDERING the Conclusions and Recommendations of the Eighth Meeting of
Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the
Americas (REMJA-VIII/doc.4/10 rev. 1) and resolution AG/RES. 2657
(XLI-O/11), by which the General Assembly requested the Permanent
Council to convene the Fifth Meeting of the REMJA Working Group on
Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition; and
BEARING IN MIND that provision 17 of the Document of Washington
stipulates that meetings of working groups shall be formally convened by
resolution of the Permanent Council of the OAS,
RESOLVES:
1. To convene the Fifth Meeting of the REMJA Working Group on Mutual
Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition, which will be held in
Asuncion, Paraguay, from May 29 to 31, 2012, in keeping with the
mandates set forth in the conclusions and recommendations of the Eighth
Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General
of the Americas (REMJA-VIII).
2. To request the General Secretariat to render the technical and
administrative support necessary to prepare for said meeting in
coordination with Paraguay as the host country thereof, and to make
appropriate arrangements for it to be held, subject to the availability
of resources allocated in the program-budget of the Organization and
other resources for 2012.
