(Approved at the meeting of September 15, 2010)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
CONSIDERING:
That the Seventh Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or

states to strengthen the exchange of national experiences and legal and
judicial cooperation regarding family and child law;
That, pursuant to that mandate, a pilot group was formed of authorities

headquarters in Washington, D.C., on November 3 and 4, 2009;
That a second pilot group was established of authorities designated by
English-speaking countries, which met on May 4 and 5, 2010, also at OAS
headquarters;
That in the conclusions and recommendations of the Eighth Meeting of
Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the
Americas (REMJA-VIII), the OAS General Secretariat was asked to share
with the member states the outcomes of the meetings of the pilot groups
of the Network for Legal Cooperation in the Area of Family and Child Law
at a technical meeting to be held in the second half of 2010,
coordinated by Brazil;
That REMJA-VIII also recommended that the member states discuss the
usefulness of the Network for Legal Cooperation in the Area of Family
and Child Law during the technical meeting and the interest of states in
forming a working group on that subject matter; and
That, if deemed necessary, REMJA-VIII contemplate the possibility of a
second technical meeting prior to REMJA IX,
RESOLVES:

authorities responsible for the Network for Legal Cooperation in the
Area of Family and Child Law and that those authorities take part in the
technical meeting;
