CONVOCATION OF THE THIRD MEETING OF CENTRAL AUTHORITIES AND OTHER
EXPERTS ON MUTUAL ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS AND EXTRADITION, IN
FULFILLMENT OF resolution AG/RES. 2228 (XXXVI-O/06) AND THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SIXTH MEETING OF MINISTERS OF JUSTICE OR OF
MINISTERS OR ATTORNEYS GENERAL OF THE AMERICAS (REMJA-VI)
(Adopted at its session held on May 16, 2007)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF
THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
BEARING IN MIND that, in the Conclusions and Recommendations of the
Sixth Meeting of Ministers of Justice or of Ministers or Attorneys
General of the Americas (REMJA-VI/doc.21/06 rev. 1), Colombia’s offer to
host the Third Meeting of Central Authorities and Other Experts on
Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition was accepted; and
CONSIDERING that, through resolution AG/RES. 2228 (XXXVI-O/06), “Meeting
of Ministers of Justice or of Ministers or Attorneys General of the
Americas,” the General Assembly of the Organization of American States
(OAS) endorsed the Conclusions and Recommendations of REMJA-VI held in
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and instructed the Permanent Council
to provide appropriate follow-up to the implementation thereof and to
convene the meetings referred to therein,
RESOLVES:
1. To thank Colombia for its offer to host the Third Meeting of Central
Authorities and Other Experts on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters
and Extradition.
2. To convene the Third Meeting of Central Authorities and Other Experts
on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition, to be held in
Bogotá, Colombia, from September 12 to 14, 2007.
3. To request the General Secretariat to provide the necessary technical
and administrative support for the preparatory work for this meeting, in
coordination with Colombia as host country, and to direct that the
meeting be held within the resources allocated in the program-budget of
the Organization and other resources for 2007.
