CONVOCATION OF THE SECOND
MEETING OF CENTRAL AUTHORITIES AND OTHER EXPERTS ON MUTUAL LEGAL
ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS AND EXTRADITION
(Adopted at its
session held on August 10, 2005)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION
OF AMERICAN STATES,
TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the offer by the Government of
Brazil to host the Second Meeting of Central Authorities and Other
Experts on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition
(CP/CAJP-SA.416/05) and the note from the Permanent Mission of Brazil
concerning said meeting (CP/INF.5218/05);
CONSIDERING that in the Conclusions and
Recommendations of the Fifth Meeting of Ministers of Justice or of
Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA-V/doc.9/04) it was
recommended that the next meeting of central authorities and other
experts continue to strengthen and make more effective mechanisms for
mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and hemispheric cooperation
in the matter of extradition; and
HAVING SEEN resolution AG/RES. 2068 (XXXV-O/05), in
which the Permanent Council is requested to convene the aforementioned
meeting,
RESOLVES:
1. To thank the Government of Brazil for its offer to
host the Second Meeting of Central Authorities and Other Experts on
Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and Extradition.
2. To convene the Second Meeting of Central
Authorities and Other Experts on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal
Matters and Extradition, to be held in Brasilia, Brazil, on September 1,
2 and 3, 2005.
