CP/RES. 801 (1299/01)
DATE OF THE SIXTH INTER-AMERICAN SPECIALIZED CONFERENCE
ON PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW (CIDIP-VI)
THE PERMANENT
COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
CONSIDERING
that, by resolution CP/RES. 798 (1297/01), the Permanent Council set December 3
to 7, 2001, as the dates for the Sixth Inter-American Specialized Conference on
Private International Law (CIDIP-VI), to be held at the Organization's
headquarters;
BEARING IN
MIND the new international context resulting from the terrorist attacks on the
Hemisphere, which has made it necessary to modify the Organization's existing
agenda to take up more urgent topics consistent with the demands for common
security; and
TAKING INTO
ACCOUNT the successive reports on preparations for the Sixth Inter-American
Specialized Conference on Private International Law (CIDIP-VI) prepared by the
Department of International Law of the Secretariat for Legal Affairs and the
presentations by thematic coordinators to the Committee on Juridical and
Political Affairs, which demonstrate the drafting efforts made during the past
six years, which, by their very nature, call for an adequate level of
representation and attention by the official delegations of the member
countries,
RESOLVES:
To postpone
the Sixth Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private International Law
(CIDIP-VI). It will be held in 2002, prior to February 15, on a date to be
decided. The postponement will take place ad referendum of the decision to
allocate resources from Subprogram 10W of the program-budget for 2002, in the
same amount as was allocated for 2001.
