GRANTING THE KINGDOM OF DENMARK THE STATUS
OF PERMANENT OBSERVER TO THE ORGANIZATION
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE
ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
HAVING SEEN the request from the
Kingdom of Denmark to be granted the status of permanent observer to the
Organization of American States (CP/doc.3347/00) and the corresponding report
of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CP/CAJP-1679/00 rev. 1);
and
CONSIDERING:
That, by resolution AG/RES. 50
(I-O/71), the General Assembly established the status of permanent observer to
the Organization of American States and entrusted the Permanent Council with
the task of determining the criteria and timeliness to give effect to that
provision; and
That, under resolution CP/RES. 407
(573/84), any independent state may request the status of permanent observer to
the Organization of American States, pursuant to resolution AG/RES. 50
(I-O/71),
RESOLVES:
1. To grant
the Kingdom of Denmark the status of permanent observer to the Organization of
American States, pursuant to General Assembly resolution AG/RES. 50 (I-O/71)
and Permanent Council resolution CP/RES. 407 (573/84).
2. To invite
the Kingdom of Denmark to accredit a permanent observer to the organs,
agencies, and entities of the Organization, in keeping with operative paragraph
7 of resolution CP/RES. 407 (573/84).
3. To request
the Secretary General to advise the organs, agencies, and entities of the
Organization, including the inter-American specialized organizations, of this
decision, once the Kingdom of Denmark has been apprised thereof.
