PLACE AND DATE OF THE MEETING OF GOVERNMENT EXPERTS
TO PREPARE FOR THE SIXTH INTER-AMERICAN SPECIALIZED CONFERENCE
ON PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW (CIDIP-VI)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN
STATES,
HAVING SEEN the report of the Chair of the Committee on
Juridical and Political Affairs, document CP/CAJP-1595/99;
CONSIDERING that, through resolution CP/RES. 744
(1185/99), the Permanent Council convened two meetings of government experts
during 1999 to analyze the documents and prepare studies on the agenda for the
Sixth Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private International Law
(CIDIP-VI);
CONSIDERING ALSO that, through resolution AG/RES. 1613
(XXIX-O/99), the General Assembly instructed the Permanent Council "to set
the date and place, in collaboration with the General Secretariat, for the two
meetings of government experts convened through resolution CP/RES. 744
(1185/99)"; and
BEARING IN MIND the notes issued by the United States,
dated June 22 and October 8, 1999, and published as documents CP/doc.3220/99
and CP/CAJP-1579/99,
RESOLVES:
1. To set February 14 to 18, 2000, as the dates for the
Meeting of Government Experts to Prepare for the Sixth Inter-American
Specialized Conference on Private International Law (CIDIP-VI), to be held at
the headquarters of the Organization.
2. To instruct the Committee on Juridical and Political
Affairs to begin, in collaboration with the Secretariat for Legal Affairs, the
preparatory work for the above-mentioned Meeting of Government Experts.
3. To authorize the General Secretariat to make use of
funds allocated to the Sixth Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private
International Law (CIDIP-VI) in the program-budget of the Organization for the
year 2000 to finance the Meeting of Government Experts to Prepare for CIDIP-VI.
