CONVOCATION OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH SPECIAL SESSION
OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,

CONSIDERING that, in resolution AG/RES. 1686 (XXIX-O/99), the General Assembly instructed the Permanent Council to convene, in the course of this year and preferably by October 31, 1999, a special session of the General Assembly at OAS Headquarters to consider and approve the Statutes of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) and the necessary amendments to the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) Statutes, the Special Multilateral Fund of CIDI (FEMCIDI) Statutes, the Rules of Procedure of CIDI and its subsidiary bodies, and the General Standards to Govern the Operations of the General Secretariat; and

CONSIDERING ALSO that the Permanent Council, at its meeting of September 28, 1999, approved the Draft Statutes of the Justice Studies Center of the Americas, in the light of General Assembly resolution AG/RES. 1615 (XXIX-O/99),

RESOLVES:

To convoke, in accordance with resolutions AG/RES. 1686 (XXIX-O/99) and AG/RES. 1615 (XXIX-O/99), the twenty-sixth special session of the General Assembly on November 15, 1999 at the Headquarters of the Organization:

1. To review and take action on the Draft Statute of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development and the other pertinent instruments referred to in AG/RES. 1686 provided that prior to November 15, 1999 such Draft Statute and other pertinent instruments shall have been approved by the Permanent Executive Committee of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development; and

2. To review and take action on the Draft Statute of the Justice Studies Center of the Americas and to set the date and forum for the election of the members of the Board of Directors of such Center.
