PLACE AND DATE OF THE FIFTEENTH REGULAR MEETING OF THE CONSULTATIVE
COMMITTEE OF THE INTER-AMERICAN CONVENTION
AGAINST THE ILLICIT MANUFACTURING OF AND TRAFFICKING IN FIRARMS,
AMMUNITION, EXPLOSIVES, AND OTHER RELATED MATERIALS (CIFTA), AND OF THE
SEVENTH MEETING OF THE OAS GROUP OF EXPERTS TO PREPARE MODEL LEGISLATION
IN THE AREAS TO WHICH THE CIFTA REFERS, BOTH MEETINGS CONVENED UNDER
RESOLUTION AG/RES. 2809 (XLIII-O/13)

March 10, 2014)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF
AMERICAN STATES,
UNDERSCORING the importance of the Inter-American Convention Against the
Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition,
Explosives and other related Materials (CIFTA) to further improvement of
public security in the Americas;
BEARING IN MIND the importance of continuing to modernize domestic
firearms legislation, within the framework of the CIFTA; and
CONSIDERING that the General Assembly, through resolution AG/RES. 2809
(XLIII-O/13), adopted at its forty-third regular session, resolved to
convene the seventh meeting of the OAS Group of Experts to Prepare Model
Legislation in the Areas to Which the CIFTA Refers, and the fifteenth
meeting of the Consultative Committee of the CIFTA, in accordance with
Article XXI of that Convention,
RESOLVES:
1. To set May 5, 2014 as the date of the seventh meeting of the OAS
Group of Experts to Prepare Model Legislation in the Areas to Which the
CIFTA Refers, and May 6, 2014 as the date of fifteenth meeting of the
Consultative Committee of the CIFTA, both meetings to take place at the
headquarters of the OAS General Secretariat.
2. To request the General Secretariat to render such technical and
administrative support as may be necessary to prepare for said meeting
and to make appropriate arrangements for it to be held, subject to the
availability of resources allocated in the program-budget of the
Organization and other resources for 2014.
