CHANGE OF DATE OF
THE SIXTH MEETING OF THE OAS GROUP OF EXPERTS TO PREPARE MODEL
LEGISLATION
IN THE AREAS TO WHICH THE CIFTA REFERS
(Adopted at its session held on April 10, 2013)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
RECALLING resolution AG/RES. 2735 (XLII-O/12) “Advancing Hemispheric
Security: A Multidimensional Approach," which convened the Sixth Meeting
of the OAS Group of Experts to Prepare Model Legislation in the Areas to
Which the CIFTA Refers for February 18 and 19, 2013 at OAS headquarters,
for the purpose of considering model legislation in the areas of
"Maintenance, Confidentiality, and Exchange of Information" (Articles
XI, XII, and XIII) and "Security Measures (Article VIII); and resolution
CP/RES. 1010 (1894/13), “Change of Date of the Sixth Meeting of the OAS
Group of Experts to Prepare Model Legislation in the Areas to Which the
CIFTA Refers,” that had convened the meeting for March 5, 2013, at the
headquarters of the OAS General Secretariat;
TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the postponement of that meeting and the
explanations that the Technical Secretariat of the Consultative
Committee of the CIFTA gave the states party;
TAKING NOTE of the recommendations conveyed by the Secretariat Pro
Tempore for the Sixth Meeting of the OAS Working Group to be scheduled
for April 24, 2013 at the headquarters of the OAS General Secretariat,
the day before the Fourteenth Meeting of the Consultative Committee of
the CIFTA that will be held on April 25, 2013, in accordance with the
Methodology for the Development of Model Legislation (CIFTA/CC-VI/doc5/05
rev. 1 corr. 1); and
BEARING IN MIND the importance of continuing forward with the
modernization of domestic firearms legislation within the framework of
the CIFTA,
RESOLVES:
1. To again convene the Sixth Meeting of the OAS Group of Experts to
Prepare Model Legislation in the Areas to Which the CIFTA Refers, for it
to be held on April 24, 2013, at the headquarters of the OAS General
Secretariat.
2. To request the General Secretariat to render the technical and
administrative support necessary to prepare for said meeting and to make
appropriate arrangements for it to be held, subject to the availability
of resources allocated in the program-budget of the Organization and
other resources for 2013.
