CHANGE OF DATE OF THE SIXTH MEETING OF THE OAS GROUP OF EXPERTS TO
PREPARE MODEL LEGISLATION
IN THE AREAS TO WHICH THE CIFTA REFERS
(Adopted at its session held on February 6, 2013)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
RECALLING resolution AG/RES. 2735 (XLII-O/12), “Advancing Hemispheric
Security: A Multidimensional Approach,” which convened the Sixth Meeting
of the OAS Group of Experts to Prepare Model Legislation in the areas of
“Maintenance, Confidentiality, and Exchange of Information” (Articles
XI, XII, and XIII) and “Security Measures” (Article VIII), at OAS
headquarters on February 18 and 19, 2013;
BEARING IN MIND the importance of modernizing domestic firearms
legislation within the CIFTA framework; and
RECOGNIZING that February 18, 2013 is a non-working holiday at the
headquarters of the OAS General Secretariat and that every effort should
be made to facilitate the full and active participation of all national
firearms authorities in the meeting,
RESOLVES:
1. To change the date of the Sixth Meeting of the OAS Group of Experts
to Prepare Model Legislation in the Areas to Which the CIFTA Refers to
March 5, 2013 at the headquarters of the OAS General Secretariat.
2. To request that the General Secretariat render the necessary
technical and administrative support to prepare for said meeting and
make appropriate arrangements for it to be held, subject to the
availability of resources allocated in the program-budget of the
Organization and other resources for 2013.
