PLACE AND DATE OF THE FORTY-FOURTH SPECIAL SESSION OF THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY
(Adopted at its session held on February 6, 2013)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,
CONSIDERING:
That by resolution AG/RES. 2761 (XLII-O/12), “Follow-up on the
Recommendations Contained in the Report of the Special Working Group to
Reflect on the Workings of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
with a View to Strengthening the Inter-American Human Rights System,”
the General Assembly welcomed the aforementioned report and instructed
the Permanent Council, on the basis of the report, to draw up proposals
for its application in dialogue with all the parties involved; and
That the General Assembly also resolved that, within a period of six
months or no later than the first quarter of 2013, the Permanent Council
should present proposals for its application for the consideration of a
special session of the General Assembly; and
BEARING IN MIND the need to establish the place and date for holding the
special session of the General Assembly,
RESOLVES:
1. That the forty-fourth special session of the General Assembly of the
Organization of American States to consider proposals for the
application of the recommendations contained in the Report of the
Special Working Group to Reflect on the Workings of the Inter-American
Commission on Human Rights with a View to Strengthening the
Inter-American Human Rights System (document AG/doc.5310/12) held on
Friday, March 22, 2013 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of
the Organization.
2. That the General Secretariat earmark the necessary budgetary
resources for holding the forty-fourth special session of the General
Assembly.
