DECLARATION OF THE PERMANENT COUNCIL ON THE PASSING
OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF BARBADOS,
THE HONORABLE DAVID JOHN HOWARD THOMPSON, Q.C., M.P.

(Adopted at its session held on October 27, 2010)

THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,

BEARING IN MIND the death of the Honorable David John Howard Thompson, Q.C., M.P., Prime Minister of Barbados (from January 2008 to October 2010) on October 23, 2010;

CONSIDERING the fundamental role that Prime Minister Thompson as a leader and statesman and his tireless commitment to the economic, social and cultural development of his country and his dedication to regional integration;

EXPRESSES its profound sorrow at the passing of Prime Minister David Thompson, a great loss for his country, the Caribbean region, and the Americas, and conveys its condolences to his family and the people and Government of Barbados.
