The Americas Project

is a joint undertaking of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Baker Institute at Rice University, and the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), which recognizes the best and the brightest in leadership in the countries of the hemisphere, in a wide variety of fields, including political, economic and cultural. The three co-sponsors of this Project consider it one of the most important international initiatives undertaken in recent years.

  • The colloquiums take place at the Baker Institute of Rice University in Houston, Texas and consist of interactive seminars for the participants and lectures by distinguished speakers.
  • The main objectives of the "Americas Project" are to promote better understanding among the young leaders of the Americas, to increase and foster the exchange of ideas and information among these individuals and to provide the basis for a viable network among them.
  • The individuals selected to participate in this project must be from an OAS member state between the ages of 25 to 40 and must demonstrate significant achievements in their careers, leadership qualities, and ability to have an impact on society.
