Selection of training and seminars organized by the OIS

Practical Courses on the United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (CTS)

It seeks to strengthen the United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (CTS) of UNODC and promote national observatories on crime and violence in the Hemisphere. 

  • Second Course - Central America
    San Salvador, El Salvador - October 19-21, 2010
    It will gather representatives from 5 countries from Central America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama), Mexico and the Dominican Republic, as well as representatives from the OAS, UNODC and the Central American Observatory on Violence (OCAVI).

  • First Course - South America
    The OAS, through its Secretariat for Multidimensional Security, and UNODC, organized this training on statistical information and other types of information on crime and violence.  The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) presented some initiatives currently promoted in the region, in collaboration with the CISALVA Institute of the Universidad del Valle in Colombia.  Government representatives from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay participated in this event.

Workshop on Victimization Surveys in the Caribbean
Washington, DC - June 28-29, 2010
Meeting with experts in the Caribbean, the United States and Canada and representatives from UNODC to share experience on the design of victimization surveys in order to discuss the methods and techniques to elaborate victimization surveys in the sub-region.
