PLACE AND DATE OF THE THIRTY-FIFTH REGULAR SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

(Resolution adopted at the fourth plenary session, held on June 5, 2001;.
subject to review by the Style Committee)

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

TAKING INTO ACCOUNT Articles 43 and 44 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Assembly concerning the holding of its regular sessions and determination of the sites thereof; and

CONSIDERING:

That, in resolution AG/RES. 939(XVIII-0/88), it recommended that the first Monday in June of each year be set as the opening date for its regular sessions; and

That the Government of the United States of America offers to host the thirty-fifth regular session of the General Assembly in the year 200S, stating that it had decided to make this offer as a reaffirmation of its commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the Organization of American States and as evidence of its decision to continue to participate actively in current efforts to modernize the Organization,

RESOLVES:

1. To thank the Government of the United States for its generous offer to host the thirty-fifth regular session of the General Assembly and to accept that offer,

2. To determine that the thirty-fifth session of the General Assembly will start on the first Monday in June in the year 2005 in the United States in a location to be determined.
