PARAGUAY TO HOST FORUM ON ANTI-CORRUPTION CONVENTION

  August 7, 2002

High-level experts will gather in Asunción, Paraguay, on August 8 for a workshop on "The National Integrity Plan of Paraguay and Challenges for the Inter-American Convention against Corruption."

The seminar is being sponsored by the Promotion Council of the National Integrity System (CISNI), a central advisory body on treaties relating to the campaign against corruption in Paraguay. An autonomous, open forum of government representatives and civil society, the Council was created to promote the National Integrity Plan.

The Organization of American States (OAS) is providing support for this workshop in which it is participating through the Technical Secretariat of the Follow-up Mechanism on Implementation of the Convention against Corruption.

CISNI is bringing together key public sector and civil society players in Paraguay for this workshop in an effort to move forward in discussing how the Inter-American Convention is being implemented and to discuss corruption in Paraguay. The participants will also test an Action Plan for implementing the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, which was adopted in March 1996
