OAS/CICTE organizes advanced course on cyber security incident handling in Panama

The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the National Authority of Governmental Innovation of the Republic of Panama will carry out an “Advanced Course on Cyber Security Incident Handling,” in Panama City from April 9-13, 2012. Panamanian government representatives will be joined in the course by technicians from Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Peru, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Uruguay and Argentina.
The overarching goal of the course is to strengthen Panama’s recently-formed National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) by providing them with expertise focused on advanced aspects, both theoretical and practical, of cyber incident response. The course promises to be an excellent forum in which attendees can exchange knowledge and discuss best-practices with their counterparts in the hemisphere.
The opening ceremony of the workshop is expected to feature the Administrator General of the National Authority of Governmental Innovation of Panama, Eduardo Jaen; the Ambassador of the United States to Panama, Phyllis M. Powers; the Ambassador of Canada in Panama, Sylvia Cesaretto; and the Representative of the OAS in Panama, Ambassador Abigail Castro de Perez.
