Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

EMBAJADORA DE EL SALVADOR ASUME PRESIDENCIA DEL CONSEJO PERMANENTE DE LA OEA

La Embajadora de El Salvador ante la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA), Margarita Escobar, asumió hoy la presidencia del Consejo Permanente, asegurando que continuará la tarea iniciada por su predecesor y coordinará la preparación de la Asamblea General de la OEA, que tendrá lugar en Barbados, en junio próximo.
Al tomar posesión del alto cargo, la diplomática salvadoreña destacó el acertado trabajo del Embajador del Ecuador, Blasco Peñaherrera, y dijo que su gestión de tres meses se caracterizará por un estilo de consulta y de concertación entre los gobiernos, así como por el fortalecimiento institucional en el proceso de toma de decisiones a nivel del alto cuerpo político.
Asimismo, la diplomática centroamericana sostuvo que en el ejercicio del alto cargo pondrá en práctica la política exterior y la vocación interamericana del gobierno del Presidente Francisco Flores.
Por su parte, el Presidente saliente del Consejo Permanente dio la bienvenida a su sucesora y agradeció el “eficiente apoyo de todos ustedes para llevar adelante un esfuerzo por impulsar la eficiencia y el mejor funcionamiento de este organismo clave del sistema interamericano”.
En la ceremonia también estuvieron presentes los embajadores de Brasil, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Grenada y Honduras, así como el Jefe de Gabinete del Secretario General, Fernando Jaramillo. La Vicepresidencia del Consejo será ejercida por el Embajador de los Estados Unidos, Roger Noriega.
La Embajadora Escobar representa a su país ante la OEA desde enero del año 2000. Previamente, entre los años 1997 y 1999, ocupó el cargo de Embajadora de El Salvador en Venezuela, Trinidad y Tobago y Guyana. De 1994 a 1997 ocupó el cargo de Representante Permanente Adjunta ante las Naciones Unidas y los demás organismos internacionales, con sede en Ginebra, Suiza. Su primera vinculación con la OEA se produjo entre los años 1991 y 1993, período en el cual se desempeñó como Representante Alterna de su país ante la Organización.
