Chief of OAS-CARICOM Observation Mission to Present Update on Upcoming Haiti Elections

The Chief of the OAS-CARICOM Joint Electoral Observation Mission for the November 28th Elections in Haiti, Ambassador Colin Granderson, is scheduled to present an update on the state of preparations for the elections during an Extraordinary Meeting of the Group of Friends of Haiti, this Wednesday, October 27, at 15:30 EDT (19:30 GMT) in the Padilha Vidal Room of the General Secretariat Building of the Organization of American States in Washington, DC.

The Executive Director of Initiative de la Société Civile involved in national electoral observation, Rosny Desroches, will present his report on the situation in Haiti.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) will present an update on the impact of the cholera outbreak.

Prospects for reconstruction and recovery also will be presented by internationally renowned seismic expert Dr. Kit Miyamoto.

This meeting is being hosted by OAS Assistant Secretary General and Chairman of the Haiti Task Force, Ambassador Albert Ramdin.

Questions will be accommodated.
