Fortieth OAS Lecture Series of the Americas to Analyze Relations between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean

The Fortieth Lecture Series of the Americas of the Organization of American States (OAS) is to take place this Friday, June 4, 2010, in the framework of the 40th OAS General Assembly, with the title, “Post Madrid Summit: Perspectives on the Future Relations between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.”
The event is scheduled for 16:00 local time (21:00 GMT) at the Country Club Hotel in Lima, Peru, and will include the participation of the OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza. The main speaker will be Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, Spain’s Vice-Minister for Ibero-America.
The Fortieth Lecture Series of the Americas is organized by the Department of International Affairs of the OAS Secretariat for External Relations with the support of the University San Martín de Porres in Lima and the governments of Spain, Morocco and the Republic of Korea.
The Lecture Series of the Americas was created in 2004 by a resolution of the OAS Permanent Council to promote democratic values and principles in countries of the hemisphere, and its focus is on the central issues of the hemispheric agenda, such as the strengthening of democracy, human rights, hemispheric security and social development.
