OAS POLICY ROUNDTABLE ON CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM IN THE AMERICAS
November 27, 2007

A roundtable sponsored by the Organization of American States (OAS) will examine the processes of constitutional reforms in the Americas next Tuesday, November 27, 2007. The event will bring together OAS officials, diplomats, legal experts and academics.

OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza will offer the opening remarks, followed by a panel discussion, and closing remarks by Jorge Santistevan de Noriega, former Ombudsman of Peru.

Panel speakers include Jaime Aparicio, Vice President of the Inter-American Juridical Committee; Gerardo Fernández, Professor of Constitutional Law at Venezuela’s Universidad Central; and Flavio Darío Espinal, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in the United Sates.

The OAS Policy Roundtable Series seeks to link the best in policy thinking to the actions of the OAS in its Permanent Council and General Secretariat through promoting an informed dialogue between policy analysts, practitioners and diplomats.

Using a variety of formats, including lectures, panels, debates and open discussions, the OAS Policy Roundtables also help to inform the community of policy analysts, especially in Washington, DC, about the on-going programs of the institution
