IDB PRESIDENT ENRIQUE IGLESIAS TO PARTICIPATE IN LECTURE SERIES OF THE AMERICAS

The President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Enrique Iglesias, will speak at the second “Lecture Series of the Americas” this Tuesday at the Organization of the American States (OAS).
Iglesias will offer his views on “Americas: from Economic Integration to Full Cooperation,” thus continuing with the series of monthly conferences sponsored by the OAS on the main issues of the hemispheric agenda. At the inaugural conference, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter spoke on “The Promise and Peril of Democracy.”
Following the presentation by Iglesias, a panel will be held with the participation of Ines Bustillo, Director of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean; Richard Webb, President of the Economic Investigation Institute of the San Martin de Porres University; Jose Manuel Salazar, head of the OAS Office for Trade, Growth and Competitiveness; and Robert Devlin, head of the IDB Integration Department. Irene Klinger, Director of the OAS Department of Communications and External Relations and coordinator of the Lecture Series of the Americas, will moderate.
The Iglesias presentation will be broadcast live by Internet, radio and television (please find technical information below). The panel will be rebroadcast at the same time on February 15, 2005.
