U.S COORDINATOR FOR COUNTERTERRORISM
TO HOLD BRIEFING AT OAS

 

The U.S. State Department Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Ambassador Francis X. Taylor, will speak to the press on Monday at the Organization of American States (OAS). Ambassador Taylor will be at the OAS to make a special presentation to the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism, scheduled to hold closed sessions on that day.

The Office of Counterterrorism coordinates all U.S. government efforts to improve counterterrorism cooperation with foreign governments.

On September 21, the Western Hemisphere's foreign ministers instructed the OAS Permanent Council to convene, as soon as possible, a meeting of the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism so that it may identify urgent actions to strengthen hemispheric cooperation to prevent, combat and eliminate terrorism.
