(E-065/01) March 22, 2001    US CONTRIBUTES TO OAS ELECTORAL OBSERVATION MISSION IN ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES   The United States, through its Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS), has contributed $65,000 to help cover costs of OAS election observers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. General elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be held on March 28. The OAS, at the request of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, will send an Electoral Observation Mission of approximately 15 people to help monitor the elections. This is the first time that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has requested an electoral observation mission from the international community. Steve Griner, Senior Specialist with the OAS’ Unit for the Promotion of Democracy, will lead the mission and arrived in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on March 21.   **********
