Nobel Laureate's Comments on Demining to be Broadcast over Internet

 

The OAS Permanent Council will be meeting in Washington, DC on Wednesday, February 17, and Jody Williams, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997, will speak to the group about her recent tour of OAS mine-clearing operations in Central America. Other speakers will include Dr. George Alleyne of the Pan-American Health Organization, Amb. Peter Boehm (Canada), Amb. Claude Heller (Mexico) and Amb. Carlos Portales (Chile).

The event will be broadcast over the Internet, and all countries in the hemisphere will be able to follow the proceedings on the OAS home page (http://www.oas.org) on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., U.S. Eastern Standard Time.
