INDIGENOUS LEADERS TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE AT OAS
Indigenous leaders from the Americas will hold a press conference at the Organization of American States (OAS) today to discuss this weeks developments on the review of the draft American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The OAS today concludes a three-day meeting, which has brought together government experts from the 34 member countries to discuss and reflect on the final wording of the draft. Indigenous representatives were also invited to offer their views.
Speakers at the conference will include Aucán Huilcamán, a Mapuche leader from Chile, Wilton Littlechild, Esq., from Canada, representing the Hobbema peoples, and Armstrong Wiggins, a Miskito leader from Nicaragua.
The press conference will be held at 2:30 p.m., at OAS headquarters on 17th Street and Constitution Ave., Washington, D.C.
