Press Advisory December 14, 2000 Video OAS AGENCY AND FUNDACION CISNEROS TO SIGN EDUCATION AGREEMENT The Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Fundación Cisneros, a private philanthropic organization based in Venezuela, on Monday will sign a cooperative agreement to expand distance-learning programs in Latin America. The agreement—one of the first ventures to embody the IACD’s new private/public partnership mission—will build on a successful teacher-training program developed by the Fundación Cisneros. The Fundación Cisneros initiates and supports innovative programs that focus on Latin American issues in education, culture, health and the environment. The new agreement complements the IACD’s mission to use information technologies to address critical educational challenges in the region. #####
