Madeleine Albright to Speak at OAS
U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright will address the hemispheres first-ever ministerial meeting on womens issues Thursday at the Organization of American States (OAS). The two-day meeting, organized by the Inter-American Commission of Women, will consider a comprehensive program to promote womens rights in the Americas. Albright will also be honored by the government of El Salvador with the Order "Jos� Matias Delgado." Foreign Minister Mar�a Eugenia Brizuela de Avila, will present the award in recognition for Ms. Albrights special support of global peace and for her efforts to strengthen ties with the people of El Salvador. Also speaking at the opening session are: OAS Secretary General C�sar Gaviria; Foreign Minister Brizuela de Avila; the OAS Permanent Council Chairman, Ambassador Marcelo Ostria Trigo from Bolivia; and the Inter-American Commission of Womens Vice President, Indranie Chandarpal.
