OAS SECRETARY GENERAL TO VISIT HONDURAS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Cesar Gaviria, tomorrow will visit Honduras, where he will meet with Honduran President Carlos Flores and assess firsthand the damages caused by Hurricane Mitch.

Gaviria will hold a press conference upon his arrival in Tegucigalpa at 9:30 a.m. He will then meet with the Minister of Technical Cooperation, Moisés Starkman, and later with Justice Minister Delmer Urbizo.

During his two-day stay, Gaviria will visit the information center of the Ministry of Government and Justice, where he will be briefed on the damages sustained throughout the country.

Coordination efforts are underway for a helicopter trip through the most affected areas in the capital city as well as land-mine zones in the Department of Paraíso.
